European Economics Preview: German Consumer Confidence, CPI Data Due

Consumer confidence and consumer prices from Germany are due on Wednesday, headlining a busy day for the European economic news.

At 2.00 am ET, GfK consumer sentiment survey results are due. The German consumer confidence index is forecast to remain unchanged at 9.8 in July.

In the meantime, U.K. Nationwide house prices are due. Economists forecast house prices to rise 4.9 percent on a yearly basis in June after increasing 4.7 percent in May.

Also, Swiss UBS consumption indicator for May is due.

At 3.00 am ET, Spain's statistical office INE publishes flash consumer prices. Economists forecast consumer prices to fall 0.9 percent on a yearly basis in June after easing 1 percent in May.

At 4.00 am ET, Statistics Norway releases retail sales for April. Sales are forecast to grow 0.4 percent month-on-month in April after staying flat in March.

Half an hour later, the Bank of England is set to release mortgage approvals figures for May. The number of mortgage approvals is expected to drop to 65,000 in May from 66,300 in April.

At 5.00 am ET, the European Commission publishes Eurozone economic sentiment survey data for June. The economic confidence index is expected to remain unchanged at 104.7 in June and the business sentiment indicator stable at 0.26.

At 8.00 am ET, Germany's preliminary consumer prices for June are due. Consumer prices are forecast to rise 0.3 percent annually after increasing 0.1 percent in May.
