European Economics Preview: French Consumer Confidence Data Due

Consumer sentiment from France is due on Friday, headlining a light day for the European economic news.

At 2.45 am ET, the French statistical office Insee releases consumer confidence survey results. The confidence index is seen unchanged at 94 in May.

At 3.00 am ET, Spain's INE publishes retail sales for April. Sales had increased 4.3 percent annually in March.

Half an hour later, Swedish retail sales figures are due. Economists forecast sales to increase 0.4 percent on a monthly basis in April reversing a 0.7 percent drop in March.

At 4.00 am ET, Italy's business and consumer confidence survey results are due. The business sentiment index is seen at 103 in May versus 102.7 in April. Likewise, the consumer confidence index is forecast to rise to 114.5 from 114.2 a month ago.
