Atlanta Fed President Lockhart (FOMC non-voter) speaks: Lockhart speaks to the National Association of Realtors. Lockhart has consistently called for a near-term rate hike this year. We expect him to maintain that stance. Given the forum, we believe he is likely to speak to the health of credit markets and to the possiblility of real estate overheating in the South.
Fed Vice Chairman Fischer (FOMC voter) speaks: Fischer speaks on a panel at the IMF. Given the composition of the panel – Kristen Forbes, Federico Sturzenegger, and Olivier Blanchard – we expect him to renew his call for fiscal stimulus. He likely believes that increased fiscal stimulus is a more likely source of producutivity enhancement than is monetary policy.
