European Economics Preview: France Consumer Confidence Data Due

Consumer sentiment survey data from France is due on Friday, headlining a light day for the European economic news.

At 2.00 am ET, Destatis is scheduled to issue Germany's import prices for December. Import prices are forecast to rise 2.7 percent annually after increasing 0.3 percent in November.

At 2.45 am ET, the French statistical office Insee releases consumer sentiment survey results. Economists forecast the confidence index to rise slightly to 100 in January from 99 in December.

At 3.00 am ET, Spain's retail sales data is due. Sales are forecast to grow 3.2 percent annually in December versus a 3.3 percent rise in November.

In the meantime, the National Institute of Economic Research is set to issue Sweden's economic tendency survey results for January. The economic tendency survey index is expected to fall to 111.4 in January from 113.8 in December.

Half an hour later, Statistics Sweden publishes retail sales data for December. Sales are forecast to drop 0.3 percent on month reversing a 0.9 percent rise in December.

At 4.00 am ET, the European Central Bank issues euro area monetary aggregate for December. Economists expect M3 to climb at a faster pace of 4.9 percent annually in December following a 4.8 percent rise in November.

Also, Istat releases Italy's business and consumer sentiment survey results for January. The business sentiment index is seen easing to 103.3 in January from 103.5 in December. Meanwhile, the consumer confidence index is forecast to climb to 110 from 109.5.

At 5.00 am ET, Italy's hourly wages figures for December are due. Wages had advanced 0.5 percent on year in November.
